Cloudways Flexible charges for a server configuration rather than a fixed number of WordPress sites. That can suit a portfolio, but a low per-site figure is meaningful only after you have allowed for capacity, backups, add-ons, and the work of running it.
Start with the server you are actually buying
The public pricing page advertises managed servers starting at $11 per month. That is an entry price, not a quote for a busy store, several client sites, or every infrastructure provider. Promotions can change the price displayed above the underlying rate.
Record the cloud provider, server family, RAM, CPU, storage, region, transfer allowance, and regular price from the selected configuration. Keep Standard, Premium, High Frequency, General Purpose, and other families separate. Matching RAM does not establish matching CPU resources or application performance.
The old comparison treated DigitalOcean and Vultr prices as identical at every size. That is not a safe basis for buying. The DigitalOcean versus Vultr guide explains what to compare beyond the size label.
Monthly and hourly billing are not interchangeable
Cloudways' billing explanation distinguishes DigitalOcean, Linode, and Vultr monthly billing from hourly calculations and provider-specific behavior. Read the rules for upgrades, deletion, and partially used months before treating the displayed monthly number as a universal hourly cap.
Pay-as-you-go also does not mean an idle server is free. Keep track of resources left running after a test or migration, and confirm the effect of stopping versus deleting the selected service. Retain required backups before removing an old server.
What belongs in the full bill?

Cloudways lists off-site backup storage at $0.033 per GB, with billing rounded in $0.50 increments. It is not $0.33 per GB, and it should not be described as free. The backup meter is not necessarily identical to the live site's disk usage. Use the dashboard's actual backup consumption when available.
For example, 50GB of billable backup storage produces $1.65 before rounding, or $2 with that rounding rule. This demonstrates the calculation, not a prediction of the backup storage a 50GB site will consume. See backup policies for the operational differences.
Three useful cost scenarios
These are illustrative budgets, not quotes or server-sizing recommendations.

The two portfolio rows have the same invoice and different economics. At ten paying sites, they work out to $15 and $30 per site respectively. Count only work that differs from your current arrangement; WordPress content edits and routine business tasks do not disappear on another host.
A portfolio may need several servers to separate demanding clients or simplify ownership. Do not assume that consolidating every site onto one server is the cheapest arrangement once recovery and handoff work are included.
Flexible or Autonomous?
This page covers Flexible. Autonomous uses a different per-application model with autoscaling charges and allowances. A Flexible server quote cannot estimate its bill. Use the product comparison if automatic capacity changes are the reason you are considering Cloudways.
Who should proceed?
Flexible is worth pricing when you or your developer can own capacity decisions and the complete configuration saves enough to justify that work. If you want fewer server choices, compare the full offer with Kinsta or WP Engine in the pricing worksheet.
